Who is Eligible for BlueCare Plus?
BlueCare Plus is a Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (DSNP). It’s for members who receive both Medicare and Medicaid benefits. It is also for those who get cost-sharing help with their Medicare premiums (QMB only).
BlueCare Plus is for people who are:
Full Benefit Dual Eligible (FBDE)
If you are eligible for FBDE, then you get full Medicaid benefits for the month under your state’s Medicaid plan. Under certain circumstances, you may also be FBDE if you were eligible for assistance during part of the month.
Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary with Medicaid (SLMB+)
If you are SLMB+ eligible, then you receive full Medicaid benefits from your state. You may also get assistance with your Part B premium. Some people who are SLMB+ qualify because they’re considered Medically Needy.
Qualified Medicare Beneficiary with Medicaid (QMB+)
If you are QMB+, then you receive full Medicaid benefits and help with your Part A and Part B premiums. You may also get help with deductibles and coinsurance.
Qualified Medicare without Other Medicaid (QMB only)
If you are QMB, then you have help with your Medicare Part A premium. But your income level means you aren’t eligible for full Medicaid benefits through your state. Medicare helps to pay your Part A and B premiums, deductibles and coinsurance.
